Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Puzzle Planet collects when you use this website, why it is collected, and what control you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate, because a privacy policy you cannot understand is not much use to you.
The short version: we do not ask you to create an account, we do not ask for your name or email address to play, and your game progress is stored on your own device rather than on our servers. The longer version follows.
Information We Store On Your Device
Puzzle Planet saves your game data using your browser's localStorage
feature. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us. It
includes:
- Your current in-progress game, so you can close the tab and resume later
- Statistics such as games played, games won, best time and best score
- Progression data including your level, experience points, unlocked achievements and daily streak
- Preferences such as your selected theme, sound and volume settings, draw mode and scoring mode
Because this information lives in your browser, clearing your browser data, using private or incognito browsing, or switching to a different device or browser will reset it. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had a copy.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics tools receive certain technical information automatically when you visit, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, and the pages you view along with the dates and times of those visits. This information is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used and to keep it working properly.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. We and our third-party partners use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising purposes, as described below. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect how parts of the site work.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are popular and roughly where visitors come from. Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish between users and sessions. This data is reported to us in aggregate and we do not use it to identify individual visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google AdSense and Advertising Cookies
This site displays advertising served through Google AdSense. The following disclosures apply:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info or Your Online Choices.
- Third-party advertising vendors may also place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons to collect information, as a result of ad serving on this site.
For more detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google's policy page.
Your Rights Under GDPR (European Economic Area and UK)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have rights over your personal data including the right to access it, correct it, request its deletion, restrict or object to its processing, and request portability. Where we rely on consent — for example for personalised advertising cookies — you may withdraw that consent at any time. Because we do not operate user accounts, the great majority of data associated with your use of this site is held on your own device and can be erased by clearing your browser storage. For anything else, contact us using the details below.
Your Rights Under CCPA (California)
California residents have the right to know what categories of personal information are collected, to request deletion of personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
Children's Privacy
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data Security
The site is served over HTTPS, which encrypts data in transit between your browser and our servers. Because we do not operate accounts or store your game data on our servers, there is no user database to breach. That said, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Third-Party Links
This site may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
